salt — Stylistic Alternates
salt (Stylistic Alternates) replaces the default glyph with an alternate chosen for the typeface’s own stylistic design.
It targets alternates that don’t fit a clear category like swash or hist. As with swash glyphs, a single glyph can have more than one alternate candidate.

Choosing among the alternate-glyph features
Section titled “Choosing among the alternate-glyph features”Three features give access to alternate glyphs, salt among them.
| Feature | Purpose |
|---|---|
aalt |

salt |
Replaces the default glyph with an alternate chosen for the typeface’s stylistic design |
ss01–ss20 |

The difference from ss01–ss20 is scope: salt targets individual glyphs, while ss01–ss20 target a set of glyphs together.
